Community Youth Empowerment
UDC educates, informs, celebrates, and empowers youth to live healthy and better lives. We provide young individuals the abilities to speak up, be heard and advocate for themselves and others within their community.

Our Plan
Community Cooperation
Through community cooperation Upward Development Corporation engages with those living within the community to effectively listen to their ideas, offer feedback and value the input received.
Help Find Their Strengths
A young individual’s strengths in the community and/or school are not just the skills they contribute to any given project or goal – it’s those skills they possess and have yet to discover. Providing opportunities for individuals to either learn a new skill or realize their hidden strengths or talents will be a major goal of Upward Development Corporation.
Support & Assist
If a young person needs assistance, Upward Development Corporation will work towards providing support. Especially today, our youth need guidance and reassurance. Supporting youth through their challenges includes first finding out the cause of their obstacles. Next, figuring out how we can assist – empowering someone isn’t about doing the work for them, but rather assisting them overcome their obstacles. This will include mentoring and weekly meetings that work through those challenges with coaching.
Ask the Question
Asking today’s youth what their individual career goals are is foundational when empowering them. First, it shows them that we are interested in what they hope to achieve, and that we will be there to support them. Second, it also encourages young individuals to consider their objectives. Many young individuals today don’t have a career or task-specific goal in mind, and even more are finding it hard to maintain clarity in what those objectives are with the community situation. Encouraging a young person to think about both their current and future objectives reminds them to maintain optimism towards what’s ahead of them, giving them a sense of control and choice.
